On July 7, 2016, five police officers were killed and eight police officers were injured in the line of duty in an ambush on the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police, and El Centro College Police. Run For The Blue was founded in response to this attack to support fallen and injured officers and their families.
In observance of the tenth anniversary of the ambush, Run For The Blue Dallas will be held on July 11, 2026. In addition to a 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile run / walk, ceremonies honoring fallen and injured officers will be held.
The courses will be on the Trinity Levee Trail, with stunning views of the Dallas skyline and the signature Margaret Hunt Hill and Margaret McDermott Bridges. The course will be mostly on paved trails with some parts on unpaved trails.
Walkers and runners are welcome.
You will have the opportunity to make a donation during registration. Proceeds will go to the families of slain and injured police officers.
10K registration includes chip timing and a race bib. 5K registration will include an option to add chip timing for an additional fee. All distances will have the option to purchase event merchandise.
Funds donated to Run For The Blue events are collected and distributed by the Blue Guardian Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.
Donations of services and products to the events are welcomed so that contributions to the affected officers and families can be maximized. Please contact us to learn how individuals and organizations can help.
We encourage cities around the country to create their own Run For The Blue event to support local fallen and injured officers. Please contact us for details.
